Heating design and system upgrades

Bring the whole heating system into balance.

A cold bedroom, an overheated landing and controls that never quite make sense can all point to a system that needs a closer look. Changing the boiler alone may leave the same problems behind.

HeatMason designs whole-home heating upgrades across North London. We look at the building, the existing equipment and the way you use each room, then recommend a scope of work that addresses the causes of poor comfort.

Give each part a clear job

The boiler or heat pump is one part of the system. Radiators, pipework, hot water and controls must work together. An upgrade might involve a few carefully chosen changes or a broader redesign; the survey establishes which is justified.

  • Heating design for an existing home or a planned renovation.
  • Radiator, pipework and control changes within an agreed system design.
  • Coordinated heating and hot-water improvements.
  • Assessment of what would be needed for lower-temperature heating.

Understand where comfort is being lost

Amir looks at room-by-room heating needs, existing radiators, accessible pipework, controls and hot-water demand. He also asks when rooms feel uncomfortable and how you currently run the heating. An extension, changed room use or earlier alterations can make the original arrangement a poor fit.

The aim is to identify what each proposed change will solve. Existing components are assessed for suitability before the scope is agreed.

Choose the right extent of work

This service is useful when several rooms perform badly, you are planning substantial work or you want a clear direction before replacing equipment. It can also help you assess a staged approach. We consider how an improvement now would fit a later change, while being clear where a future system would need further design.

Weigh comfort against disruption

Larger radiators, different pipe routes or new hot-water storage can affect space and finishes. We discuss these practical consequences alongside the potential for steadier temperatures, better control and lower avoidable energy use. Work in occupied rooms needs a clear scope, including what access and reinstatement will involve.

A considered route from survey to settings

Start by describing the problems and any planned building work. Amir reviews your enquiry and proposes an appropriate paid survey, with the fee and scope agreed before booking. The survey informs a written proposal for the recommended work.

Amir designs and specifies the system, attends and oversees installation, and completes commissioning and handover. This last stage matters: you should understand how to use the controls and what to expect from the agreed system.

A little more clarity

Questions worth asking.

Will I need a new boiler?

That depends on its condition, suitability and the changes required elsewhere. A system survey helps establish whether replacement belongs in the proposed work.

Do all the radiators have to change?

Each radiator is considered against the room's heating needs and the intended operating temperature. The recommendation should explain which changes are needed and why.

Can you plan around a future heat pump?

Yes. Tell us that this is part of your plan. We can assess how proposed improvements fit that direction, without assuming that every existing component will suit a future installation.

Can I improve the system in stages?

A staged approach may be sensible where work, budget or access needs to be spread out. We assess the dependencies so an early change does not create avoidable work later.

The next useful question

Tell us which rooms are letting you down

Describe what feels wrong, the heating you have and any renovation plans. Amir will review the picture and recommend the next step.
