Know what the proposal includes.
The useful price is the one attached to a clear scope. A boiler replacement, a heat-pump conversion and a wider system upgrade can involve very different work, even in homes that look similar.
We explain the proposed survey and its fee before booking. Installation prices follow assessment of the home and the work required.
What changes the cost of a project?
Equipment is one part of the proposal. Existing pipework, emitters, hot-water provision, controls, equipment positions and access can all affect the work. Renovation plans and permission requirements may change the sequence too.
- What the existing system can sensibly retain.
- The heating and hot-water demands the design needs to meet.
- The routes, locations and building work needed for installation.
- Any associated electrical or specialist work included in the scope.
- The agreed commissioning, handover and documentation.
Compare the scope as well as the total.
A proposal should help you understand what is included, what is excluded and what depends on a further check. Ask whether allowances, associated work, VAT and any grant assumptions are stated clearly.
If two proposals take different approaches, the difference may be in the design assumptions or scope. We can explain the reasoning behind ours.
Survey fees are agreed first.
Amir reviews the enquiry before recommending the appropriate assessment. You receive the scope and fee before deciding to book. Any survey-fee credit against later work is set out with its conditions.
Servicing has its own scope.
Tell us the appliance type, make and model and whether there is a separate cylinder. We can confirm the appropriate service and current total price. A service is not a promise that unrelated repair work is included.
Heat-pump proposals and grants.
Where grant support may apply, the project’s eligibility and the installer arrangements need to be checked. The proposal should distinguish the installation price from any grant contribution. HeatMason designs and leads heat-pump projects with a long-standing MCS-certified installation partner.
Start with the scope you need.
Send your postcode, current system and the change you have in mind. If you have a working budget, include it: understanding that constraint early helps make the discussion more useful.
Your home. What could work better?
Tell us what you have, what you would like to change and where your home is. Amir reviews every enquiry personally.
